SUSTAINABLE WATER MANAGEMENT

  • On-site water cycle through the use of storm­water runoff in retention areas for irrigation purposes and for operating in-house water supply systems
  • Water-saving fittings
  • Water use and water protection plan along with quality assurance at the construction site

CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION

  • Proprietary photovoltaic system to generate electricity for the building's M&E services
  • Energy-saving supply with district heating, supplemented by a heat pump
  • Annual primary energy demand at least 10% below the Building Energy Act (GEG) standard
  • Air tightness/thermal image measurement
  • Calculation of the greenhouse gas potential generated by the building's construction across its entire life cycle

CIRCULAR ECONOMY

  • Processing 70% or more of the demolition waste for recycling use
  • Limiting the waste generation
  • Installing waste segregation systems for recycling purposes

WELL-BEING FOR THE OCCUPANTS

Extending over 6,000 sqm, Berlin’s Waldpark and the roof terrace areas with their sunny and shaded areas provide a number of retreats where building occupants may relax and take it easy, thereby enhancing their health and general well-being.

Is the building sustainable?

Yes, Port One is expected to receive the DGNB Gold certificate upon its completion. The project planning phase focused specifically on issues like climate protection, circular economy, carbon score and biodiversity.
